昊美术馆(上海)群展「严肃游戏」于8月2日开幕。展览同时呈现一系列艺术家关于游戏的写作和创作手记,希望借此激发对电子游戏及相关议题的进一步思考和讨论。“严肃游戏”并不致力于强调“严肃”与“娱乐”的分野,相反,展览希望打破人们对游戏的刻板印象,在人与机器、现实与虚拟的边界已不复存在的当下,打开一个关于游戏讨论的政治纬度。


本期分享内容为艺术家 吴其育 及其 参展作品 —— “亚洲大气”

这是一次不存在的VR观看体验。吴其育以影像装置模拟未来人类的观看方式,讨论关于亚洲的空域关系。作品源于空军撤离后,遗留旧办公大楼二楼墙面的空域作战指挥图,吴其育从历史和科技的角度,思考“天空”是如何被人们使用、理解与划分。人类对空域的想象涵盖政治、军事、经贸、娱乐等各种层面,使用方式无止境扩张。人们借着飞行得以跨国移动,一段跨国航段会穿越多少个航空识别区?科技一再突破,如今人们只需在地面操控无人机,便能宛如飞行般俯瞰地面;同时,无人机飞行管理规范则相应而生。眼前无垠的天空,早已被各种管理方式划分。


《亚洲大气》的影像与讨论相关飞航画面、空拍机影像、无人机禁飞地图、空域作战指挥图、飞行空域、管制空域,以及相应的飞航规范、对天空的使用与限制等串接。作品呈现方式试图对应当前最新颖的观看方式——虚拟实境,分属不同空间的画面如同左右眼视窗,仿佛双眼所映射出的、虚拟的、未来的新型观看方式。

关于艺术家



吴其育(b. 1986,台北),作品的基本关注在于找寻如何在被技术-资本主义摧毁的废墟中重建人、事物、动物与世界连结的方式。其创作主要以动态影像为主,通过口述历史与传说的纪录进行文本的再制,在逝去的记忆中寻找当代叙事的语言型态,同时也进行装置、影像装置与表演等不同类型的合作计划。


吴其育曾进驻于荷兰皇家艺术村(Rijksakademie,阿姆斯特丹,2014-2015)。个展:时间91平方米(TKG+ Project,台北,2017)。参与联展:上海双年展(上海当代艺术博物馆,上海,2018)、穿越正义(台北当代艺术馆,台北,2018)、台北双年展(台北市立美术馆,台北,2016)、第二届CAFAM未来展(中央美术学院美术馆, 北京,2015)。参与的影展:北京国际短片联展(2017)、EXiS Festival,首尔(2017)、Arkipel Festival,雅加达(2016)。

Serious Games, the current exhibition of HOW Art Museum Shanghai, will be on view on August 2. The exhibition presents in the same time the writings of participating artists, intending to stimulate further the reflection and discussion on videogames and relevant topics. Today's release is about artist Wu Chi-Yu and his work Asia Air.

This is a nonexistent virtual reality viewing experience. By simulating a futuristic approach of viewing through video installation, Wu will explore Asia’s aerial territory. Inspired by the aerial warfare schematic left behind by the Air Force Commander Headquarters, Wu will examine how the sky is being used, understood, and divided by humans from historical and technological perspectives. Humans have historically used the sky for political, military, trade, and entertainment purposes; now, the sky is being used in even more ways. Through flight, humans are able to traverse national boundaries, and boundaries are constantly being redefined and delineated according to the political and economic might of a country. How many air defense identification zones are we passing through when we fly from one country to another? As technology continues to advance we can now see the world from the bird’s eye view of a drone while planting our feet firmly in the ground. Correspondingly, we have had to develop ways to manage and regulate the use of drones. The vastless sky before us has already been divided as to be managed.

 

Asia Air is a video installation that strings together aerial photographs taken from aircrafts and by drones and images of aerial warfare schematics to explore the use and management of aerial space. This work will be viewed as the latest viewing technology – virtual reality, which projects varying depths of field in both the left and right eye to create a three-dimensional viewing experience that is both virtual and futuristic.

 -About Artist- 



Wu Chi-Yu (b. 1986) is an artist based in Taipei. Chi-Yu’s work has long been focusing on re-establishing the connections among humans, things, animals, and the ruined world left by technic capitalism. His practice revolves around the moving image, looking for contemporary narratives in lost memory through the reproducing of oral history and myths. He is also involved in different collaboration projects of installation, video installation, and performance.

 

Wu Chi-Yu was a resident artist at Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten (2014-2015). He had the solo show: “91 Square Meters of Time” (TKG+ Project, Taipei 2017). The exhibitions he once participated include: “The 12th Shanghai Biennale” (Power Station of Art, Shanghai, 2018); “Trans-Justice” (MOCA, Taipei, 2018); Taipei Biennial (Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Taipei, 2016). His films have been screened at the Beijing International Short Film Festival (2017); EXiS Festival, Seoul (2017); Arkipel Festival, Jakarta (2016).
