Many people won’t like what I have to say，but I feel compelled to say it. You see l grew up in a black family，black neighborhood. There were black leaders all around me，black churches. In fact I went to a black elementary school，high school, middle school even historically black college in university. I was very involved in different things，we’re very proud of my culture，my heritage. But unfortunately, the more I learned about the plight of Black people the more inflamed I became. One day after moving to Florida，a place where I experienced some very very severe discrimination，I’m in the store and I was miss treated，discriminated against，profound，and in my anger I said to God：when are you going to take the reproach of black people away？ And to my surprise he answered me，in a still small voice，this is what he said three things have changed my life. Number one, he said:＂I already did and sent my son Jesus Christ.＂ Number two, he said:＂no one has control over you except what you give them.＂ Number three, and this was the kicker, he said:＂and by the way you’re not black.＂ That was the most difficult thing I’ve ever heard in my life，it went against everything I was told, everything I believed. He said this to me, he continue to say:＂you are a spiritual being created in my image and after my likeness，and you have no limitations.＂ As much I wrestled with that I knew in my heart it was true. I remember the scripture in Genesis Two where God breathing on Adam and he became a living soul. Adam was a speaking spiritual being，and so am I and so are you. You see the truth is, this is not just about my blackness and this is not to offend or be disrespectful toward a beautiful culture, a beautiful complex of a beautiful heritage，but this is to say that my blackness is not my identity，neither is your whiteness your identity，nor whatever persuasion you affiliate yourself with. Our truest identity is our spiritual connection to God，our relationship with God，that’s who you really are. And the truth of the matter is. until we discovered this and believe this we will continue to be distracted by things that have been set in place from a very long time ago. I’m not black！ You’re not white！ But God is our father！ God bless you.
