木星美术馆将于2020年7月31日呈现艺术家童昆鸟大型个展——“鸟x昆x童”。此次展览为童昆鸟迄今为止规模最大的个人展览，展示多组艺术家颇具代表性的大型装置艺术创作，以及为木星美术馆专门创作的场域特定（site-specific）艺术装置——世界上最大的金色垃圾桶。

Jupiter Museum of Art (JMA) will present “NIAO x KUN x TONG”, the artist Tong Kunniao's largest solo exhibition to date opening on July 31, 2020. The exhibition will display representative large-scale installations, including the large golden trash can—a site-specific art installation created for JMA.

此次展览还特地把艺术家在北京的工作室挪到了深圳木星美术馆的展厅现场，将艺术家的人物形象（persona）鲜活地展示在观众眼前，全面地向观众介绍这位怪诞而幽默的年轻艺术家，并传达他的审美态度和价值观。

The exhibition will also see Kunniao's Beijing studio moved to the museum hall in Shenzhen, which allows the viewer to appreciate Kunniao’s unique creativity, presenting his grotesque and humorous persona and aesthetic.

展览将以童昆鸟使用老式幻灯机底片成像与机械装置光影混合创作的“非数据化”影像装置作品为起点，由“静”到“动”地阐释艺术家创作的内在逻辑和玩味的艺术创作精神。

The exhibition will start with the“non-digitalized" video installations created by Tong Kunniao which combine the images from the old-style slide projector and those from the mechanical devices, illustrating the inner logics and the playful mentality behind the artistic creations.

展示作品还包括艺术家创作生涯的重要系列——观念艺术装置“平衡鸟”系列部分作品，即一系列通过利用物理平衡原理在空间中建立危险与滞留关系的大型鸟体雕塑。

“Balance Birds Series of Works”, a series of large-scale bird sculptures based on the physical principle of balance which have evolved as one of the most prominent works of the artist, will also be included.

同时，艺术家的经典作品：由开合的扇面组成的，捕捉时间消失状态的扇子装置《答案会在空气中打开》、会吐泡泡的《呕吐书》装置等，也会在此次展览中与大家见面。而此次展览的最大亮点，艺术家为木星美术馆的户外场地“量身定制”的公共艺术空间——《金桶》，更是最大程度地将艺术家肆意喧嚣的艺术态度推向高潮。

Other works such as “The Answer Will Open In The Air”, an installation composed of opening and closing fans which capture the disappearance of time, and the “Vomit Book”, a book-shape device that can spit bubbles will also be exhibited. The exhibition highlight will be the gigantic work “Golden Trash” placed outside, a public art installation, emphasizing the wild and intractable attitude of the artist.

利用现成物、大规模生产的商品或可回收材料来传递颠覆性的幽默感回应当代中国社会中的现象是艺术家童昆鸟作品的一个显著特征。童昆鸟的创作涵盖雕塑、装置和绘画等，媒介常常是他从城市、乡村和朋友家收集的带有荒诞色彩的废弃物和消耗品。挖掘与拼贴，对拜物情绪下的文化符号进行一番黑色幽默式的重构，童昆鸟用一种所谓的“恶趣味”打造了一个属于当代年轻群体的寓言模式。

With the use of ready-made objects, mass-produced commodities, and recyclable materials, Kunniao’s works convey a subversive sense of humor in response to recognizable phenomenon in Chinese society. Kunniao works in sculpture, installation, and painting, and the common mediums of his works are waste and consumables collected from the suburbs, countryside, and his friends' homes. Collaging and deconstructing the cultural symbols with a dark sense of humor, Kunniao creates metaphors of the younger generations with his playful, and sometimes kinky artworks.

艺术家童昆鸟曾被媒体贴上“90后”、“造物主”、“一个为 ‘垃圾’争取平等权力的射手座男”等标签，其“游牧”式的创作方式也被认为符合评论家杰利·萨斯（Jerry Saltz）在2005年提出的“操乱”（clusterfuck）美学。

Kunniao has been labeled as “the millennial”, “the demiurge”, “a Sagittarius man who fights for the equal rights of‘garbage’”;  his “nomad art” style is also considered to be in line with the “clusterfuck aesthetic” as described by Jerry Saltz in 2005.

在他的作品中，我们所看到和听到的是光怪陆离的超现实主义图景：尖叫着的玩具鸡，特殊材质猪尾巴抽打铃鼓的“啪啪”声，呕吐的书籍，破旧的儿童投币式摇摇车……然而，跳脱任何艺术流派和形式主义的理论化解读，童昆鸟的作品和其创作理念中所传达的荒诞、幽默、自由不羁却恰恰真实地反映了现实社会中的一种时代精神（zeitgeist）。

His works shows the surreal picture of the grotesque: squeaky rooster shaped toys, artificial pig tails hitting a tambourine, vomiting books, shabby coin-operated electronic toy cars, among other objects. But by moving away from any theoretical methodologies or academic formalist interpretations, Tong Kunniao’s artworks and ideas convey the absurdity, humor, and freedom that truly reflect the zeitgeist of his generation.

Tong Kunniao was born in Changsha, Hunan, China in 1990 and graduated from Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing, China in 2015. He currently lives in Beijing.
