报告摘要

  • Lattice-Boltzmann raspberry swimmers are good model systems for studying the hydrodynamic interactions with walls (and themselves → studying collective behavior in 3D complex environments).

  • Can augment these swimmers with RT motion to study bacterial motion in complex environments (comparison to expeiments in progress).

  • Pusher Squirmers show surprising mobility reversal around spherical obstacles and at walls for high B-values.

  • In case of chemically driven swimmers, if the bulk fluid is active (like H₂O), this can lead to unexpected self-electrophoretic effects.

  • These effects will be studied using a reactive LB-EK scheme (work in progress)

个人简介

Professor Holm, He was born in 1960 in Helmstedt and studied physics at the TU Berlin. He completed his doctorate in 1987 at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta (USA) and habilitated in theoretical physics at the FU Berlin in 1996. From 1996 until 2008, Professor Holm was a project leader of the research group “Theory of Polymers” with K. Kremer at the Max Planck Institute of Polymer Research in Mainz, and was a fellow at the “Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies” from 2005-2008. Since 2009, Professor Holm has been the Director of the Institute for Computational Physics at the University of Stuttgart. Besides a large number of grants, Professor Holm, A. Arnold, H. J. Limbach, and B. A. F. Mann were awarded the third price of the Heinz-Billing-Association for their development of the ESPRes So software package. Prof. Holm is spokesperson of the Collaborative Research Centre SFB 716 (Dynamic Simulations of Systems with Large Particle Numbers) sponsored by the German Research Association (DFG) and fellow of the Stuttgart Centre for Simulation Sciences SC SimTech. Areas of Research: Simulation Sciences, Physics.

会议简介

Out of equilibrium soft matter is a rapidly growing field of multidisciplinary research with problems ranging from active matter, growth processes in biology, self assembly under imposed constraints to fluctuating hydrodynamics, and nonequilibrium effects on Casimir physics. This workshop intends to develop a synergistic approach to tie together various contemporary problems studied at the crossroads of soft matter and statistical physics connected by the fundamental role of fluctuations.
