学院概况


课程简介

本院於1997年開辦全港首個教育博士學位課程,首屆學員於2001年畢業。課程自開辦以來,吸引了多個界別的人士報讀,包括中小學及大專院校的資深專業工作者、政府官員及從事社會服務工作的人士等。教育博士學位課程兼重修課與研究,提供多類科目選擇,並要求學員在導師指導下進行論文研究,旨在讓學員對專研範圍有深入的認識,鼓勵學員以創新方法進行教育探究,並培養學員對解決教育問題的洞察力。

此外,本課程冀能令教育專業人士對專研範圍有更堅實的理論和實踐基礎,並在此基礎上有效面對教育改革的挑戰。


专研范围

課程與教學

本專研範圍為有志於從事課程與教學研究的教育工作者及專業人員而設計,旨在引導學員從不同角度理解課程與教學的設計、實施與評鑑議題,探尋有效課程發展策略的理論基礎,並且對影響學校課程與教學的社會及個體因素展開系統探究。本專研範圍重視理論與實踐的聯繫,強調將縝密的理論探討建基於穩固的學校實踐及紮實的研究數據。本專研範圍主要包括以下範疇:課程發展、教學設計、課程變革與實施、課程評鑑、學習評估、學科課程與教學。必修科目

The PhD programme in Education is research-oriented. A student normally combines seminars with guided independent research in an individually designed course of study under the guidance of the supervisor and the thesis committee.
Advancement to PhD candidature is conditional upon completion of coursework requirements and passing of a qualifying examination. Within twelve months after advancement to PhD candidature, the candidate must submit a thesis proposal to the Graduate Panel. After the thesis proposal is approved, the candidate should submit a thesis and pass the oral defence within a prescribed period of time for graduation.

Tuition Fee
HK$42,100 per annum regardless of the study modeAdmission Requirements.In addition to the general requirements of the Graduate School, applicants should preferably:

  1. hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Education, or equivalent education qualifications, and/or have relevant experience as deemed acceptable;


  2. provide proof of her/his research capability in the form of past publications, Master's thesis, and/or strong support from academic references;


  3. perform satisfactorily in an interview conducted by the Graduate Division of Education; and pass a written entrance examination conducted by the Graduate Division of Education, if necessary.

导师信息


Prof. LEE Kit-bing, Icy



Icy lee has taught in Hong Kong and Vancouver, Canada. She has worked in Douglas College and Simon Fraser University (Vancouver), Institute of Language in Education (currently The Education University of Hong Kong), Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong Baptist University, and the University of Hong Kong. The undergraduate and postgraduate courses she has taught include ELT methodology, academic reading and writing, written and spoken discourse, language assessment, classroom communication, teaching and learning of reading and writing, and action research. 


Her publications have appeared in numerous international journals, including the Journal of Second Language Writing, TESOL Quarterly, Language Teaching, Language Teaching Research, System, ELT Journal, Assessing Writing, and the Canadian Modern Language Review. She is currently Co-editor of the Journal of Second Language Writing and Senior Associate Editor of The Asia-Pacific Education Researcher.




Prof. Scott AUBREY



Scott Aubrey had taught at universities and language schools in Japan and South Korea before coming to Hong Kong. Most recently, he worked at Kansai University in the Faculty of Foreign Language Studies (Osaka, Japan) where he taught both English language (skills-based) courses at the undergraduate level and courses targeting in-service language teachers in the graduate school. Some courses Scott has taught include academic writing, academic listening and speaking, ELT methodology (writing), intercultural communication, interlanguage pragmatics, and research methods in language learning. Scott received his Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics from the University of Auckland.


His research interests include L2 motivation, learner engagement, task-based language teaching, intercultural interaction in the classroom, and written corrective feedback. Scott’s recent publications have appeared in such journals as TESOL Quarterly, Language Teaching Research, and Modern Language Journal.




Prof. BAI Barry



Formerly served as Lecturer at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Courses taught include Academic Writing, Research Methods, Subject Curriculum and Teaching (English), ELT Techniques, Enrichment Activities for ELT, and ELT Curriculum Theory and Design.




Prof. CHAI Ching-sing



Dr Ching Sing Chai completed his first degree from the National Taiwan University in Chinese Literature. He was sponsored by the Public Service Commission (Singapore) as an oversea scholar and he returned to serve in The Presbyterian High School as a Chinese language teacher and later as the Head of Department. Subsequently, he served as an academic in the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University. He joined The Chinese University of Hong Kong from 2017 December as a professor in the department of Curriculum and Instruction.


Prof. DAI Yun



Formerly served as Postdoc Fellow and the manager of the Viterbi iPodia Educational Program at the University of Southern California, USA. Courses taught at the CUHK include: Introduction to Curriculum Evaluation; Curriculum Evaluation: Theory & Practice; Principles and Implementation of Curriculum and Instructional Design; Ethnographic Study in Ed Research.
