酷爱翻译的我考进了广外  

选择了广外翻译学院

置身在不同的语言和文化中，每一种语言都是一个小世界；这大概就是我喜欢翻译的地方。

Immersed in other languages or cultures, we see that each language is a window on a small world. This is perhaps where translation fascinates me most.

一个booth，一个耳机，一台电脑，仿佛回到了广外翻译学院学习情景。

A booth, an earphone, a computer -- these bring me back to my university days in School of Interpreting and Translation Studies, or SITS, in Guangwai. 

几年前，酷爱翻译的我考进了广外，选择了广外翻译学院。

Several years ago, as an ardent lover of translation, I was enrolled in Guangwai and chose to study T & I in SITS. 

这里，绿树红墙, 书声琅琅；

Here, under green trees and beside red walls can be heard loud reading.

这里，明德尚行，学贯中西；

Here, everyone strives for virtues, integrity and profundity of learning.

这里， 译无止境，臻于至善；

Here, ardent lovers of translation pursue excellence in translation. 

梦想起航，明灯引路，在知识的海洋里航行，我们每个人都是掌舵者； 

Our dreams are in full sail by beacon lights. We surf freely in the ocean of knowledge. We all steer our way to success.

而他们， 是指引我们前行的航海家！

And they, guide us forever forward as navigators.

他们，我的老师，名校毕业，国家级人选，履历完美。

They, my teachers, are elite graduates, or rare talents, all with excellent educational backgrounds. 

高翻生活  活力无限  梦想绚烂  

砥志研思  潜精研思

作为翻译者，我们可以自由穿行在不同世界之间。

As translators, we can freely shuttle back and forth between different worlds.

翻译需要我们对不同文化都有透彻地了解，

Translation requires us to have a thorough understanding of different cultures

把一种语言文化的意义用另外一种语言文字表达出来。

so as to express the meaning of one language culture in a different language. 

由陌生到熟悉， 跨越语言的鸿沟，

To make known things foreign and to bridge the gap between languages,

我们几乎要变成另一个人去理解细微的思想。

we need to become nearly someone else to understand the subtleties.

当然，翻译不仅是语言的问题，

Of course, translation involves more than linguistic problems.

每个国家的文化都有差异，

Cultures vary from nation to nation.

我们需要到字典里、专业资源里去查找术语和上下文。

We need to consult dictionaries, technical sources for appropriate terms and contexts.

当完成翻译的时候，心里的成就感是无与伦比的。

An accomplished translation always gives you a sense of unparalleled achievement.

  青春散场  梦想高飞  

光阴荏苒  笑也惘然

这是我们在校最后一次相聚，

Here comes our last get-together at university.

各奔前程，互道珍重，互诉衷情。

Each of us go our own way, bidding all goodness and having hearty talks with each other.

有的人毕业后选择继续读研，考取MTI。

After graduation, some choose to do master degrees, becoming MTI students.

有的人去了MIIS留学；

Some go to study in Monterey Institute of International Studies.

有的人去了全球500强的外企；

Some go to work in Fortune Global 500 corporations.

有的人在联合国相关部门工作。

Some go to work in relevant departments in the UN. 

很多年后， 

Many years later, 

我们把这个夏天叫做“That year summer”， 

we called the summer "that year summer". 

那年夏天， 

That summer, 

我们曾笑得很美，很绚烂。

our smiles were so beautiful, so radiant.
