The idea is that you don't need many materials to create good architecture. Some good architects said, not more than three materials, like Alvato Siza. What I am basically doing: I check on the site, in the country, what is the most available material. Let me exaggerate it, if I come to the site and you just have concrete, I have to be able as an architect to just use it to do every part of the building, even the openings. You should be able to take the material in an innovative way, put them together and create a structure that will really work.

Indeed there is a need to improve architecture. It is the time, not a wish, and we have to do it. Resources are shrinking, people are fighting hard because of resources, climate change is a big big issue, and people are looking for high quality design. Either in the Western world or in developing countries, humanity needs quality. And we need to inspire people through high (quality) design, so it is time to improve our way of living through architecture. It is so important either in the US, in China, in Africa or in Europe. If we want to help to solve the problems – climate change, resource limitation, high demand on high quality of housing, it is time just to act, to improve architecture or to use architecture to make a better world.□
