美国得州小学发生枪击事件致21死，拜登：是时候化悲痛为行动了

A teenage gunman killed at least 19 children and two adults after storming into a Texas elementary school on Tuesday, the latest bout of gun-fueled mass murder in the United States and the nation's worst school shooting in nearly a decade.

The man who gunned down 19 children and two teachers in the Texas elementary school massacre wrote “I’m going to shoot an elementary school” in a Facebook message 15 minutes before he barricaded himself inside a classroom and fired indiscriminately, officials said Wednesday.
The shooter, identified as Salvador Rolando Ramos, 18, gave “no meaningful forewarning” of the violence he intended to unleash except for the Facebook message and two others that came before it, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said at a news conference.
The other two messages said: “I’m going to shoot my grandmother” and “I shot my grandmother.”

Meta spokesperson Andy Stone said the warnings were sent in private one-to-one text messages that were found after the shooting. Facebook is cooperating with law enforcement, he said in a tweet.

此次校园枪击事件发生后，美国总统拜登表示，为了对受害者表示哀悼，白宫以及所有公共建筑、军事基地和舰艇、海外领地及使领馆等将在5月28日日落前降半旗。
此外，拜登当晚就该枪击事件发表讲话，他连续抛出多个问题，反问美国什么时候才能结束枪支暴力。
“作为一个国家，我们必须问，我们什么时候才能站出来反对枪支游说团体？什么时候我们才能做我们需要做的事情？”
As a nation, we have to ask: When in God's name are we going to stand up to the gun lobby? When in God's name will we do what we all know in our gut needs to be done?

The shooting was the deadliest at an elementary school since the 2012 Sandy Hook massacre in Connecticut that left 26 people dead, including 20 children between 6 and 7 years old.

Excluding Tuesday’s shooting, so far in 2022 there have been at least 38 shootings in K-12 schools, colleges and universities, resulting in at least 10 deaths and 51 injuries.

Why Asian Americans in New York still live in fear, Muslims face increasing discrimination and the Indigenous people suffer persistent persecution? Why the US, a country with the best medical technologies and conditions, has the largest number of COVID-19 infections and deaths? The US should take effective measures as soon as possible to protect the lives of the American people and guarantee their rights to freedom from fear, gun violence and racial discrimination.
